Barbara, Helma, Darlene, and Dorothy—the Tetter Women—showed what real care looks like. They believed in feeding hungry children, coaching Boy Scouts, helping teens with unplanned pregnancies, and navigating red tape for struggling families.

Their work was heart-led, hands-on, and rooted in fierce love. In neighborhoods that faced unemployment, poor schools, and broken systems, the Tetter Women said, “Not today”—and made sure their communities thrived.

This is more than history—it’s a heritage of compassion and action. These women embodied resilience, service, and a deep belief in each other. That spirit lives on every time we say “yes” to someone in need, and every time we invest in community-rooted leaders.

Today, TetterGirls Foundation keeps that legacy alive—by uplifting women of color and the grassroots efforts already in motion. We don’t build programs from scratch—we water the roots these women planted, nourishing families, dreams, and neighborhoods.
